Local-First & 100% Private

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 18, 2026 • Effective Immediately

1. Executive Summary: Zero Data Collection

At CoreMarkdown (coremarkdown.com), your privacy is our primary engineering requirement. We do not require accounts, we do not store user files on cloud servers, and we do not monitor, log, or transmit the Markdown documents you create.

All document editing, LaTeX mathematical parsing, Mermaid diagram rendering, and file exporting occur entirely inside your local web browser using client-side JavaScript.

2. Local Storage & Virtual File System

CoreMarkdown uses the browser's native localStorage and IndexedDB APIs to provide document persistence and multi-tab virtual file management.

  • Your files and preferences (e.g. Dark/Light theme mode, editor split ratios) remain exclusively on your computer or device.
  • You can clear your local documents at any time by clearing your browser's site data or using the in-editor file deletion tools.
  • No document content is ever synchronized with or backed up to our servers.

3. External Scripts & CDNs

To ensure fast page load speeds and typography rendering, CoreMarkdown loads public stylesheets and static web fonts from trusted content delivery networks (Google Fonts and jsDelivr for KaTeX CSS). These requests transmit standard HTTP request headers (such as IP address and User-Agent) necessary to deliver the static stylesheet files.

4. Cookies and Web Telemetry

CoreMarkdown does not use invasive tracking cookies, third-party advertising trackers, or fingerprinting scripts. We only store functional user preferences (such as your chosen theme) in your browser's local storage.

5. GDPR & CCPA Rights

Because CoreMarkdown does not collect, process, or store personal data on remote servers, your data is inherently protected under your direct physical and browser custody under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
